By breathing in the scents of ink while you sweep your brush and concentrate , you can become totally immersed in your work.

Words have power, and you will be shown how to convey that power through the art of writing as a professional calligrapher teaches you the basics. In the end, you will create your own work of linguistic art.
Instruction is available in English, Mandarin Chinese , or Japanese.

Welcome to my professional studio for Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo) in the heart of Kyoto City.

I am Chifumi, a professional Calligrapher. I was born and raised in Kyoto and for the past 35 years I’ve been teaching calligraphy.
In addition to teaching calligraphy, I also teach Japanese culture to people from around the world.
